Horseball

Horseball is a game played on horseback where a ball is handled and points are scored by shooting it through a high net. The sport is like a combination of polo, rugby, and basketball. It is one of the ten disciplines officially recognized by the International Equestrian Federation.

The sport originated in France in the 1970s, it gained success and has spread across Europe and overseas. The International Horseball Federation has 11 members including three outside of Europe, Brazil, Israel, and the Cayman Islands.

The most important international competition is the European Horseball Championship (France is the current Champion in Seniors, Women and Pony). But in 2006 the Fédération Internationale de Horseball (International Horseball Federation) and the Federacion de Pato Argentina (Pato Federation of Argentina), organized the First World Pato-Horseball Championship (won by Portugal).
